And I was nearly one of them.
The last thing I remember was my wife crying while holding my hand and whispering to me “I love you” before they rushed me into an ambulance.
The rest is foggy for me. I know we had gone to dinner to celebrate our 7th anniversary.
Then I started sweating and I collapsed on the floor grasping for air.
When I woke up hours later, I was in a hospital bed.
The doctor came in. He was a busy guy who had the air of somebody who would rather be anywhere but here. I instantly disliked him.
In an annoying voice he said something like:

I’d juts had a scare. Thankfully I was young enough to fight the heart attack right back. I was going to live. But for how long? That was the real question.
I was scared, angry and depressed. As my wife was sobbing in her chair, I thought about all the things we had talked about doing. The trip we had planned to France the following year; the house we wanted to buy. The baby we wanted to have. I felt like fate had robbed me of my life.
